PencilTime User Guide

Plan with Apple Pencil, notes, stickers, and calendar context.

Use this guide to get started with PencilTime's main planning tools and support features.

Planner Views

PencilTime includes Day, Week, Month, and Year views. Use Day View for detailed scheduling, Week View for planning ahead, Month View for a broad calendar layout, and Year View for long-range planning.

Writing and Drawing

  1. Select a pen tool from the planner toolbar.
  2. Choose a color and size that fits the page.
  3. Write with Apple Pencil or touch input.
  4. Use erase, undo, and redo when revising a page.

Stickers and Link Stickers

Stickers help mark important items and personalize pages. PencilTime supports emoji, label, photo, image, and Link Stickers. Link Stickers can jump to planner pages or Note Pages, which makes them useful for dashboards, recurring routines, projects, and connected planning systems.

Note Pages, Tags, and Smart Folders

Use Note Pages for project notes, meeting notes, lists, and workflows that do not fit neatly on a calendar. Tags, search, and Smart Folders help keep notes discoverable as your planner grows.

Calendar, iCloud, and Export

Calendar integration requires iOS calendar permission. iCloud sync uses Apple's infrastructure for devices signed in to the same Apple ID. Export options let you share planner pages as PDF or PNG when you need a portable copy.
